About the UPSC SO/Steno test series

The UPSC SO/Steno LDCE is the limited departmental competitive examination that decides promotion to Section Officer (CSS) and the Stenographer grades. Its two objective papers carry 150 marks each: Paper I on the Constitution, Parliamentary Procedure, the Allocation and Transaction of Business Rules and the RTI Act, and Paper II on the financial and service rules — GFR 2017, DFPR 2024, CCS (Conduct), CCS (CCA), Pension, Leave/LTC, FR & SR and the Manual of Office Procedure. Paper III is descriptive.
